SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom
4.8 / 5.0
Common Game

Your favorite cartoon hero is available for mobile devices in a Bikini Bottom-shaped game. Our aquatic main man battles to save the day and protect Bikini Bottom from an invasion of robots.

It is down to you to put the evil Plankton in his place. Show Plankton that crime doesn't pay, just like Mr. Krabs.

If all of this makes little sense, you probably won't get a lot of the references and back story associated with the game.

SpongeBob fans, however, are going to love this game. And get all the nods to the beloved TV series that charmed a generation of kids, students, and adults alike.

More

The storyline of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom is that you have to save Bikini Bottom from an invasion of rampant robots. Unfortunately, the only tools at your disposal are bubbles.

So fending off a horde of robotic foes isn't the easiest of jobs. In fact, it's pretty tricky and will reward you with hours of gameplay trying to ensure the integrity of Bikini Bottom.

The battle, then, is definitely on. But watch out for the underpants bungee jump. You won't want to miss that.

It's all good harmless fun trying to thwart Plankton and his fiendish plans to take over Bikini Bottom and rule it with his wacky army of robotic sidekicks.

How to use

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom is downloadable from Google Play. There is no iOS version available as yet.

Android users will need to free up just 39 MB of storage space and run Android 8.0 or later to get started with this game.

However, you should note that the age rating for this game is 7+ due to mild violence. So, it's not aimed at younger kids as such.

To date, there have been just 10,000 plus installs, and the current version is 1.2.1.

This is somewhat surprising, perhaps, given the massive international appeal of SpongeBob with audiences of all ages.

One thing that some may find offputting is the fact that the game has been developed by a German independent games house rather than Nickelodeon or Viacom directly. And there's no link in the Google Play listing to the developer's website, just an email address for support.

That said, this SpongeBob games outing has scored 4.5 out of five with Google Play reviewers. The vast bulk of the 1,400 plus reviews have awarded the game five or four stars. But clearly, there are sufficient sub-four star ratings to bring the ranking in at 4.5.

Since the last update, there has been an odd gripe about minor glitches. However, the bulk of reviewers are enjoying the game thoroughly.
